The Italians know what they want when it comes to style. They want durable, elegant, and sophisticated fashion. To Italians comfort is not a high priority, but looking fashionable is. It is also quite common to see men dressed to the nines complete with a "man bag," something you hardly ever see here in America.
One thing that Italian fashion does have that is similar to the United States is the struggle between the media's version of what a perfect body is and what is reality. Just like in the States, Italy has a problem with anorexia and bulimia among their models. This did not used to be the case, however. In fact, in 2011 the Italian issue of Vogue put three plus size models on the cover of their magazine. Having plus size models on the front page of a magazine is rare enough, and for Vogue to do it makes it even more amazing.
